Do you want to lose weight for good? Have you, like millions of people, been heard saying, “I can diet and lose the weight by myself,” but struggled to do so? The reality is we have all tried dieting, and really only about five percent of people can lose the weight on their own and keep it off.
This is why we are excited let you know that Orbera®, a life-changing, FDA-approved, non-surgical proven weight loss procedure, is now at the Plastic Surgery Center.
Orbera® is More Than a Balloon
The best part of Orbera® is it’s a year-long program that helps you lose weight by changing your habits. It’s been shown that the average person loses 3.1x more weight with Orbera® than with diet and exercise alone.
Who is Orbera® For and How Does It Work?
Specifically designed for patients with a BMI between 30 and 40 who are in otherwise good health, the Orbera gastric balloon is inserted orally through your esophagus and placed directly into your stomach during a quick, non-surgical procedure.
There is no need for any incisions, stitches or scars. The entire procedure takes about 20 minutes, and for the next six months, the balloon is inside your stomach, reducing the amount you can eat and retraining your brain to better know when you are getting full.
After the first six months of the weight loss program, we remove the stomach balloon, and your aftercare program continues with six months of continued support and coaching.
During this time, Orbera and your very own weight loss coach at the Plastic Surgery Center partner with you.
You have open and constant communication with your support team including your treatment team, coach, dietician, fitness trainer, doctor, and more. Over the six months, patients see drastic results, losing 20-50 pounds and sometimes even more.
Patient Story: Jary M.
About six years ago, Jary hit 300 pounds. He found it hard to do the outside work he wanted to do. He was always out of breath and decided it was time to lose some weight.
After doing his research, he found a diet that worked for him and lost 75 pounds. While this was an achievement, Jary got frustrated when he hit a plateau several years ago. He tried everything, even fasting a few times for about three weeks, but he just couldn’t budge off 235 pounds.
When he heard we were doing Orbera treatments, he again did his research. He was excited by the simple procedure that didn’t involve surgery or stitches. He knew he had to do something because his joints hurt all the time, and he couldn’t stand comfortably.
He wants to lose 50 pounds. Seventeen days after surgery, Jary is right on track. He’s lost about eight pounds or half a pound each day. He is working with the coaches at Orbera and our coach and team at the Plastic Surgery Center.
He logs his weight each day on an Orbera-provided scale that logs pertinent details on the Orbera app. He also keeps a food and fluid diary each day. Doing this means his coaches and support team can help guide his weight loss.
As for the procedure itself, Jary actually went to a Shocker game about three hours after the procedure! While this isn’t the norm, Jary did have several days of nausea (Common side effects include: nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.), and he needed to rest to recoup after the treatment.
Would he do it again? He says, yes, he would, and he advises others struggling with their weight to give this solution a try.

Dr. Sprole wants to personally congratulate this patient on his weight loss success. He has lost 120+ lbs!!!
The patient is one of her first Orbera patients, and she couldn’t be more proud of his success. He also happens to be her father, and it’s rare that she gets to tell him how proud she is of his accomplishments. She is so impressed at his grit and determination to get this done. Dr. Sprole says,
“Congratulations Dad!! You inspire me everyday.”
