Over the last few years, plastic surgery and aesthetics treatments for men have grown in popularity. The stigma is gone, and men of all ages are heading in for plastic surgery in record numbers. Like women, men want to look and feel more confident while changing things they don’t like seeing in the mirror.
While we see men for a variety of reasons, one of our male patients, Jary M., came to us looking to improve his field of vision. He went to see his eye doctor and learned he wasn’t seeing well because his eyelids were drooping. New glasses didn’t help, so he went to see a plastic surgeon.
Not only did he learn he could see better with an upper eyelid lift, but he could get rid of his under eye bags and look more like his younger self. His surgeon also suggested a neck lift to remove his turkey gobbler neck and loose skin.
“When I looked at my before and after photos, I couldn’t believe it,” Jary says. “When we compared the photos, the results were incredible. I even asked for copies to show friends and family who might benefit from eyelid and neck lift surgeries. My vision is great now, and I had a very positive experience. Looking back, I didn’t realize how gradually the signs of aging came on, and I can’t believe the difference. I am very happy now with my results.”
Jary says, “Many men don’t know what’s available to them. If you’re unhappy with a feature on your face and body, consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. They are in the business of helping people with things they want to improve. Plastic surgeons will gently explain your options and what can be accomplished, and then it’s completely up to you. If you want to look better, they can help.”
For some male patients, like Jary, eyelid surgery is a necessity because their eyelids obstruct their vision. For others, they want to improve and rejuvenate the appearance of their eyelids or get rid of under-eye bags.
Eyelid surgery can help with bags and dark circles under the eyes, puffy eyelids, and drooping lower eyelids. It can also treat fine lines, wrinkles and excess skin, as well as loose or sagging skin that creates folds on the upper eyelid, often impairing vision.
Neck Lift and Face Lift Surgery
Jary wanted to get rid of his dreaded turkey waddle. Other reasons can include improving skin laxity, the neck profile, and banding in the neck area as well as getting rid of unwanted jowls.
For those who want to further reverse the effects of aging, they can add a face lift to tighten facial tissues for a more contoured appearance.
Male Breast Reduction
Gynecomastia is a condition that causes enlarged male breasts due to excess tissue or fat and can cause social and emotional trauma for boys and men. It’s incredibly common, can affect males at any age, any time, and any size. Male breast reduction is a common procedure, and we can remove unwanted breast fullness, leaving men more self-confident.
Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)
This surgery helps men feel more confident by changing the size and shape of the nose, removing bumps, and filling in any depressions. Men may choose nose surgery for strictly cosmetic reasons or for broken noses or breathing problems.
Liposuction and Tummy Tuck
For men who have a healthy diet and exercise but can’t lose those last pockets of fat, liposuction and tummy tucks are popular procedures. These procedures help create a leaner, more sculpted torso.
One of the biggest complaints of our male patients is hair loss. We can treat this through robotic hair restoration or PRFM (Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix) injections. Both treatments provide life-changing results.
When it comes to minimally or non-invasive procedures, men are increasingly making appointments to improve their skin, look younger, and feel better. These include:
- Tattoo removal
- BOTOX® Cosmetic and DYSPORT® injections to reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- Fillers to stimulate collagen and replace lost volume in the face, which can improve the loss of a man’s jawline, the “tired” appearance, sagging cheeks and dark under-eyes
- Laser hair removal
- CoolSculpting to remove love handles and the double chin
If you’re interested in discussing your options, your first step is a consultation at the Plastic Surgery Center with one of our board certified plastic surgeons or skin care staff at PSC Aesthetics. As for Jary, he says perhaps a “Daddy Makeover” is next on his list…
