Your eyes reveal a wealth of information about you; they express how you feel physically and emotionally. Yet, hereditary factors and the signs of aging can change the appearance of your eyes and betray how you really feel.
If you have wrinkles, droopiness, puffy eyes, or a visual obstruction, eyelid surgery may be right for you.
In this article, we discover solutions for your tired, puffy eyes and skin perfections.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
It can improve the appearance of both the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery gives the area surrounding your eyes a rejuvenated appearance, allowing you to look more rested and alert.
Eyelid surgery can help if you have:
- Bags and dark circles
- Lower eyelid droopiness
- Fine wrinkles and excess skin of the lower eyelid
- Loose or sagging skin that creates folds on the upper eyelid
- Puffy eyes caused by excess fatty deposits in the upper eyelids
- A visual obstruction from excess skin hanging from the upper eyelid
As with our patient, Kim, many people also wish to rejuvenate their appearance with laser skin resurfacing. Treatments are customized based on each patient’s needs, concerns and tolerance for downtime.
CO2 Laser, Pixel Perfect
Our new CO2 laser, Pixel Perfect, is highly customizable. Our skin care department can apply the treatment at lower settings for light resurfacing, while our plastic surgeons can use it for more substantial, deeper resurfacing and ablation.
The laser improves skin tone, texture and fine lines. Treatments address a wide range of skin imperfections on the face, neck and décolletage, including deep wrinkles and scars around the mouth and eyes.
Patients may have their skin resurfaced at almost any age. Because of the need for sun avoidance following the procedure, fall and winter are ideal for undergoing CO2 laser resurfacing.
When combined, eyelid surgery and laser resurfacing can help you look and feel younger for many years.
You may also benefit from:
- A brow lift to open the area around your eyes and smooth wrinkles.
- Ultherapy® to lift and tone loose, lax skin on your face, neck and décolletage.
- BOTOX® to improve the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines and laugh lines between the brows and laugh lines around the eyes.
If you are interested in a facial procedure, your first step is a consultation with one of our plastic surgeons.
Real Patients. Real Results.
Real Plastic Surgery Center Blepharoplasty and CO2 laser patient, Kim, says,
“I would do it again. The procedures made me feel so much better changed a lot for me.”
Explain your journey to eyelid surgery and the CO2 laser:
Kim: I fought under eye bags for a long time and was frustrated. The doctor suggested I have laser resurfacing at the same time to improve my skin texture and get rid of fine lines and sun spots. This way I had one period of downtime instead of two.
Tell us about the day of your procedures:
Kim: I was very nervous, but both before and after the staff was wonderful and made me feel calm. I was sedated during the procedure so I didn’t feel anything. I didn’t have a lot of pain from either, but I did have discomfort and irritation from the laser treatment for several days.
When did you notice your results?
Kim: I noticed my eyes the first day. Even though my face was swollen, I could see that my bags were gone. For my face, I noticed the difference about three days later. My face felt soft, smooth and healthier – like baby skin.
Are you happy with your results?
Kim: I am very happy with my results. It changed the way I look at myself.
Several weeks after, a woman I know said to me, “You look so pretty. What is it about you today?” It was nice that the improvement was noticeable but not so much that people knew what I did.
Do you have advice for others considering eyelid surgery or the CO2 laser?
Kim: I strongly encourage people who are unhappy with their under-eye bags or skin texture to have it done. It made me feel so good about myself.
