How It Works
Breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammaplasty, reduces the size of breasts that are disproportionate to your body and cause physical pain.
By accomplishing this, we reduce and often eliminate the pain in your neck, back, and shoulders. In addition to the therapeutic benefit of breast reduction, there is the cosmetic benefit of a more pleasing and youthful appearance of the breast.
- Do you have chronic pain in your back, shoulders, neck and even your breasts?
- Is it uncomfortable to sit or stand?
- Is your physical activity restricted due to the size of your breasts?
- Do your shoulders hurt where your bra straps have put pressure?
- You might even experience some other symptoms such as frequent muscle tension headaches, tingling and numbness sensations in your fingers.
If you answered yes to these questions, you might benefit from breast reduction surgery. It’s also important to note that most insurance companies will cover all or a portion of medically necessary breast reduction surgery.

Are you a good candidate for breast reduction surgery?
For many, overly large breasts can cause mental and physical issues. The weight of your breasts can impair your ability to live the life you want to live. You may be a candidate for breast reduction surgery if you:
- Are physically healthy
- Have realistic expectations
- Don’t smoke
- Feel that your breasts are too large, and they bother you
- Have breasts that limit your physical activity
- Experience back, neck and shoulder pain caused by the weight of your breasts
- Have shoulder indentations from bra straps
- Have skin irritation under your breasts

Steps to a Breast Reduction in Wichita
- Schedule your consultation. Review your goals, anticipated incision placement, and recovery. Decide the amount of breast tissue you would like to be removed during surgery using our virtual surgical planning software, called Crysalix 3D.
- Schedule your surgery.
- You will have anesthesia. We will recommend the appropriate choice for you.
- During surgery, we reduce the breast tissue as well as excess skin. We lift and reshape the breast. We reposition your nipple. We can also reduce the size of your areola if necessary.
- We will close the incisions, and you head to post op recovery.
- During your recovery, your breasts are padded with gauze dressings and placed in a support bra. This helps minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal.
- Your results and neck/back pain relief are almost immediate. However, the final results may take a few months as the swelling subsides and your incision lines fade.
