How It Works
You may see signs of aging on your face in the form of wrinkles, loss of cheek volume, heavy folds, and jowls.
Facial aging is due to several factors including heredity, gravity, thinning of the skin, loss of facial fat, sun damage, smoking, environmental conditions and stress.
A facelift provides the ultimate facial rejuvenation and the most dramatic results, giving your face a tighter, more youthful look. A facelift corrects sagging facial skin and muscles, removes excess fat, and restores firmness.
A facelift is a highly individualized surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck. It is recommended for men and women who:
- Experience sagging of the skin in the face and neck
- Have a deepening of the fold lines between the nose and corner of the mouth
- Show fat that has fallen or has disappeared
- Have jowls developing in the cheeks and jaw
- Experience loose skin and excess fat of the neck that can appear as a double chin or “turkey neck”
A facelift can only be performed surgically. If you aren’t ready for surgery, we do offer non-surgical rejuvenation treatments that may help delay the need for a facelift.
A facelift won’t change your basic appearance. If done correctly, you will not look ‘worked on,’ but rather rejuvenated, refreshed and rested. Facelift results typically last 10-20 years. You will continue to age naturally over time. Eyelid surgery or browlift surgery are sometimes performed in conjunction with a facelift.
Procedure Steps
- Schedule your consultation and then your surgery.
- You will have anesthesia during your surgery, typically general.
- You will have incisions. Depending on the amount of change you’d like to see, your facelift choices include a traditional facelift, limited incision facelift, or a neck lift. We will discuss your incisions during your consultation.
- We close your incisions with sutures that may dissolve or need to come out in a week. Once healed, the incision lines from your facelift are well hidden in your hairline and natural contours of your face and ear.
- After surgery, expect dressings around your face. You may also have small tubes to draw off excess blood or fluid.
- You will notice visible results once the swelling and bruising subside. Your final result is a more youthful, rested looking appearance and enhanced self-confidence.
